Los Abrigos has kept the soul of a small seafaring village: low, whitewashed houses facing the ocean, boats moored in the little harbour and fish restaurants opening their terraces to the sea, serving the day’s catch — grilled octopus, wreckfish, red prawns — far from the mass-tourism trail.
A few minutes by car bring you to two of the finest beaches in the south: Playa La Tejita, wild natural sand at the foot of Montaña Roja, and El Médano, the capital of windsurfing and kitesurfing, among beach bars and blazing sunsets.
The location itself is an advantage: Tenerife South Airport is about 10 minutes away, Los Cristianos just a little further, and the whole south of the island — right up to Mount Teide — sits within a day’s reach. From Los Abrigos, every ocean sunset feels like an invitation to stay a little longer.
